Barter House Custom Toile de Jouy

We were so excited when our friends and clients, Lake and Laurie reached out to us for help creating a custom toile de Jouy wallpaper for their new house. The two were recently married and building their first home together. 

The couple has known each other for years and had relocated back to the town where they both grew up. They wanted a guest bathroom wallpaper that would introduce visitors to the place they knew so well. 

Some of the very first things we decided to include in the artwork were their three beloved french bulldogs. Having gotten to know these friendly pups, we wanted to really let the animal’s personalities shine through. You can see the dogs trotting along and playing with each other as they take a walk through an illustrated city.

The wallpaper design tells a story about the clients walking their dogs across town. We can see them stopping in front of well-known scenes like the local theater, clock tower, and hiking trails. The print also features one of the client’s favorite restaurants and a view of the Blue Ridge mountains. 

We worked with Lake and Laurie directly on the design, making edits until it was just right. Then we coordinated with their team of interior designers to have it printed and installed.
