Bespoke Southwestern Toile Wallpaper

Ellie and Corey reached out to us with a charming project idea that we couldn’t wait to get started on. They wanted to design a custom toile de Jouy wallpaper for the guest room of their new home. The couple wanted the design to introduce guests to the beautiful town of Cortez, Colorado.

Cortez is situated in Montezuma County, Colorado in the area of the Southwest known as the High Desert. The town is incredible because of its central location among surrounding attractions, such as Mesa Verde National Park, Monument Valley, and the Four Corners.

We wanted to incorporate some of these magnificent natural features into their custom print. The couple chose Shiprock and Sleeping Ute. Both are illustrated in a modern toile de Jouy line-work style. Nestled between these illustrated natural landmarks is their home. The viewer can see more intimate scenes like their beloved dog, native yucca plants, and the beautiful panoramic mountain view behind their backyard.

The custom wallpaper was the perfect addition to their Southwestern-style guest room. This subtle design, with its terracotta color palette and light, airy spacing, speaks to the desert location. We chose illustrations with modern, clean lines to evoke the feeling of the high desert, with its vast open landscape and sweeping views. We love location-specific design and spaces with a sense of place.

The four corners design is also available in an array of home goods. All Hughes Studio custom prints are available in these products. We would love to help you tell the story of your home. Please contact us to inquire about our design process and pricing.
