Hughes Studio – Commission Project FAQ

Everything you need to know before we get started!

What is the cost of a custom toile de Jouy pattern?

The base price for a custom Hughes Studio pattern is $900. This includes:

  • Up to 4 custom illustration scenes

  • Two rounds of revisions

  • Final files in high-resolution formats: JPEG, transparent PNGs, and a layered Photoshop (PSD) file
Additional options are available for extra illustrations and revision rounds (see below).

Can I add more illustrations?

Yes! You can add one additional custom scene for $95, up to a maximum of six total scenes.

What’s included in the revision rounds?

  • The package includes 2 rounds of revisions.

  • If more are needed, you can purchase an extra revision round for $95.

  • Revisions are intended to refine the artwork—not to redesign from scratch—so it helps to be as specific and clear as possible with your feedback.

What is the timeline for completion?

  • Most projects take 3–5 weeks depending on complexity and current studio workload. We will give you a custom timeline when we begin.

What is the payment process?

  • A 50% deposit ($450) is required to secure your spot.

  • The remaining balance is due before final file delivery.

  • You will receive an invoice and a link to make payments.

What files will I receive?

You’ll receive a folder containing:

  • High-resolution JPEGs (seamless pattern tile)

  • Transparent PNGs for flexible use

  • A layered PSD file so you (or your designer) can adjust colors and scale

  • Optional additional file sizes upon request

Can I use the design for print or commercial use?

  • Yes! You’ll have full commercial rights to use the artwork for products, print-on-demand, branding, and more.

  • You may not resell or distribute the artwork as-is (e.g., as a digital asset).

What do you need from me to get started?

Once the deposit is received, I’ll send a simple onboarding form asking for:

  • Your vision or theme

  • Specific scenes or elements you’d like illustrated

  • Any reference photos, mood boards, or brand inspiration

How should I send feedback during revisions?

  • We recommend sending feedback in bullet point format or comments directly on images.

  • Be clear and specific (e.g., “Please make the dog smaller in Scene 2,” or “Can we switch to a lighthouse instead of a palm tree?”).

Do you offer a contract or agreement?

  • Yes! I’ll send over a simple service agreement that outlines everything discussed—so we’re on the same page from the start.
