A Texas Weekend, Imagined

This pattern began as a daydream about a gracious weekend in Texas—a few unhurried days spent with friends at a beautiful ranch, surrounded by open landscapes, warm hospitality, and the quiet rituals that make a visit memorable.

Rather than documenting one particular place, I imagined an idealized version of a Texas getaway. The pattern brings together landscapes, architecture, animals, and moments of everyday life to tell the story of the weekend from beginning to end.

The Invitation

The story begins with an invitation.

There is something special about being welcomed into someone’s home, particularly when the invitation promises a change of pace: a beautiful drive, long conversations, dinners that stretch into the evening, and time to enjoy a landscape different from your own.

From the invitation to the patterned travel pieces, these opening images introduce the anticipation of the journey and offer the first glimpse of the Texas toile.

Arriving at the Ranch

The drive leads through a landscape of limestone, live oaks, open fields, and distant hills.

At the ranch, a horse waits beside the fence while friends gather beneath the trees. The setting is unmistakably Texas, but I wanted it to feel restrained and timeless rather than overly rustic. The clothing is tailored, the palette is quiet, and the atmosphere is soft and sun-washed.

It is less about portraying ranch life literally and more about capturing the feeling of arrival: space, warmth, and the sense that the weekend has slowed down.

A Gracious Home

Inside, the pattern becomes part of the house.

The Texas scenes appear across wallpaper, curtains, upholstery, and table linens. Dark wood, faded blue, cognac leather, and warm ivory create a home that feels collected over time—comfortable enough for guests, but still elegant and considered.

These interiors helped me imagine how the finished pattern might live beyond the page. Each application reveals something different about the repeat, from the broad architectural scenes to the smaller animals and landscape details.

Dinner and Dancing

As daylight fades, the story moves into deeper blues, tobacco browns, and candlelit amber.

An intimate dinner introduces a more romantic side of Texas. Later, the evening continues inside a historic dance hall, where a couple moves across the wooden floor beneath softly glowing lights.

These scenes are intentionally dreamlike. They are not meant to recreate one exact evening, but to capture the feeling of an ideal night out: good company, beautiful surroundings, music, and nowhere else to be.

The Morning After

The next morning is quiet.

The guest room is filled with pale light, and breakfast waits on the veranda overlooking the trees. The pattern appears again in smaller, more personal details—a headboard, a pillow, a folded napkin beside a cup of coffee.

After the richness of the evening, these images create a pause. They are about comfort, rest, and the pleasure of waking up in a beautiful place.
