Barter House Custom Toile de Jouy

We were thrilled when our friends and clients, Lake and Laurie, asked for our help in creating a custom toile de Jouy wallpaper for their new home. The couple, who recently tied the knot and were building their first home together, had known each other for years and had moved back to their hometown. They wanted a guest bathroom wallpaper that would reflect their deep connection to the town.

One of the first things we decided to include in the artwork was their three beloved French bulldogs. Knowing these friendly pups well, we aimed to showcase their personalities. The design shows the dogs trotting along and playing with each other as they take a walk through an illustrated city.

The wallpaper design narrates the story of the clients walking their dogs across town, stopping at well-known scenes such as the local theater, clock tower, and hiking trails. The print also features one of the client’s favorite restaurants and a view of the Blue Ridge mountains.

We collaborated closely with Lake and Laurie on the design. Then, we worked with their team of interior designers to have it printed and installed.
